The Yellowjackets held the Bulldogs to 22 yards of total offense and quarterback Carlos Velazquez found fellow senior Tony Salcedo three times through the air in a huge win for a Williams team that went 1-9 last year.
Velazquez led the 'Jackets to a first-period score, hitting Salcedo on a 33-yard strike with 4:30 on the clock. Williams struck again in the second, this time on a 7-yard run by Jesus Camarena with 5:06 left in the half.
"We had a lot of guys who really wanted to win this game," said Velazquez, who completed 5 of 11 attempts for 90 yards and the three scores, two coming in the second half when the Yellowjackets nailed down the victory.
Durham 56, Biggs 20
Michael Torres completed a touchdown pass to Brian Carr, and Christian Calloway and Randy Stanley added touchdown runs, but the Wolverines fell in their season opener at Durham.
Willows 44, Colusa 0
Colusa was unable to get anything going offensively, finishing with less than 150 yards of total offense, and coughing up the ball four times in a loss at Willows.
Three came by way of first-half fumbles, and the fourth was on a fumble on the second-half kickoff. The Redskins never got closer to the end zone than the Willows 32-yard line on their final drive as the clock ran out.
