Prep Roundup: Sutter, Lindhurst win doubleheaders

Sutter High's baseball team is one win away from a championship.

The Huskies swept a doubleheader from Butte View League foe Winters on Thursday and with a win against Gridley today can clinch at least a share of the BVL title.

Wheatland hosts Orland in a doubleheader today and is also in the mix for the league championship if they sweep the Trojans.

Both of Sutter's win came in dramatic fashion on Thursday.

The Huskies won a walk-off single from Dylan Russell in game one. Russell also went the distance on the mound to pick up the 10-9 win.

Russell ripped a single up the middle to plate Weston Childers in the bottom of the seventh.

Nathan Ahlers went 4 for 4 with two RBIs and both Childers and Morgan Osgood were 2 for 4. Osgood doubled and knocked in two runs, while Childers knocked in one.

The slugfest continued in game two with the Huskies coming away with a 13-12 victory.

Sutter (18-7, 9-3) trailed 10-3 in the third inning before exploding for six runs in the bottom of the third. Osgood broke a 10-10 tie in the bottom of the fifth with a two-run homer.

Osgood finished 4 for 5 with three RBIs. Childers was 3 for 4 and knocked in three runs, while Ben Eisenbarth, Lucas Hensley, Mat Sanders and Philip Robledo each had two hits.

The Huskies' JV team won 11-0 and 7-0 over the Warriors.

In the first game, Brad Bonnenfant tallied nine strikeouts in five innings on the hill and Lucas Cryer was 2 for 4 with three RBIs, a double and a triple. Forrest Smith was 2 for 3 with two home runs in the second game. Franklin Tarke and Trevor Carr also went yard for the Huskies (25-1, 11-0).
