Local Roundup: Yuba bounces Mendo

Liana Knight scored on a penalty kick in the 43rd minute of the second for the game's first goal. She would add another score six minutes later off an assist from Jocelyn Rapp.
With play extended because of injuries, Christina Baggio knocked in the 49ers' (8-6-2) third goal in the 56th minute off an assist from Lexi Kidd.

Josh Wilson scored a pair of rushing touchdowns, Adam Michel passed and ran for touchdowns and Brian McGoldrick had an interception and fumble recovery in the win for the Spartans (6-3, 4-2).
YOUTH SOCCER
Big wins for Azzuri programs
The Azzuri FC under-13 boys team won their division of the Pumpkin Kick tournament at Beckwourth Riverfront Park by defeating 49er United Strike 1-0.
Ivan Ambrocio scored four goals in four games and Sully Guy, Hoscar Hernandez and Kobe Bancroft also found the back of the net.
Gilberto Lopez led the team's defense, which notched three shutouts.
The Azzuri Scorpions took first place thanks to a goal from Jonathan Catalan and stellar goalkeeping from Tristan Montoya.
The Azzuri United under-12 boys team took second in their division. Giovanni Aguliar, Eliso Lopez, Juan Lopez, Aurelio Lozano, Adrian Martinez and Donaldo Pureco all scored goals for United.
The Azzuri Diablos boys team won the Sierra Gold Holloween Fest on Oct. 24 and 25 by defeating the Lincoln Strikers 5-1 in Placerville. Angel Lopez notched a hat trick and Ryan Guzman scored a pair of goals in the win.
Grayson Romig, Jordan Spain and Casey Tinoco played solid defense for the Diablos.

Law wins mini stock open
Howard Law, the 2009 mini stock rookie of the year at Marysville Raceway Park, won the final event of the year to cap his successful first season. Richard Hamilton won the pure stock open event and Ray Fernanzez won the 44-car, bomber trailer race.
SENIOR SOFTBALL
Local team wins silver in Utah
The California Oaks-slow pitch senior softball team brought home a silver medal after competing in the Huntsman World Senior Games in St. George, Utah recently.
The team is comprised of local players who are at least 65-years-old.
Tom Vance of Marysville hit a home run during the tourney.
