Roundup: Sutter volleyball spikes Blazers
Comments 0 | Recommend 0After having lost five starters off last year's championship club due to graduation, the Sutter High girls volleyball team opened its season Wednesday with a 25-5, 25-12, 25-8 win over visiting Lindhurst.
"We're off to a good start," Huskies coach Ann Reynolds said. "We're just trying to blend and work together as a team. We're working on team chemistry."
Sutter win its 11th straight Butte View League championship last fall and its third Northern Section Div. IV title in a row. But the core of those championship teams gone, Reynolds is hoping a new crop of players can carry on the Huskies' winning tradition.

Whitney Lee, a transfer student, led the team with 25 service points and 11 aces. She served 11 points in the second set, after eight in the first. She also had six kills.
Megan Hilbers, a returning senior who saw limited action last season, had six kills.
Kayli Paulicci, another returning senior with limited playing time, had 11 assists. Kamalei Clifton, up from last year's junior varsity club, had 13 assists.
Sutter competes Friday and Saturday in the Durham Tournament.
Sutter's JVs topped Lindhurst, 25-8, 25-8, while the Huskies freshman squad was victorious, 25-15, 25-2.
