Prep Roundup: Two-week halt slows 49ers softball
After 21⁄2 weeks without games, the Yuba College softball team struggled to get back in the groove and dropped both ends of a Bay Valley Conference opening doubleheader to visiting Napa on Monday.
The Storm held Yuba to only two hits in the first game. The 49ers failed to score and fell 0-2.
Yuba posted 11 hits in the nightcap but couldn't get runners around. Yuba left 10 runners on base and fell 4-3.
"They played real flat today. We haven't had a game or been able to have field situations in over two weeks and that showed," said Yuba coach Stephanie Reynolds.
Courtney Judkins suffered the loss in both games.
Former Sutter High standout Jackie Sizemore went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Jessie Brown, Marissa Wilson and Katelyn Noreen had two hits each.
"In my 10 years coaching at Yuba, I've never played on a Monday and I never want to again," Reynolds said.
The Niners (3-5, 0-2) have a doubleheader against Marin today starting at 1 p.m.
