Yuba City girls drop opener

Alex Peiffer scored nine points and Arcola Maxham-Hook scored three in the Yuba City High girls basketball team's season-opening 50-15 road loss.
Chloe Periro scored two points and Mariah Curry scored one for Yuba City (0-1).
The junior varsity Honkers lost 47-16. Samantha Hand had eight points.

The Gridley boys fell in their opener 4-0 to Corning, while the Gridley girls came up short 3-2 to Corning.
