The rafters are gaining company at the East Nicolaus High gym — courtesy of a stellar performance by the volleyball team.

Haley Uhland dished out 54 assists to go with 15 digs, Stephanie Hagins slammed 28 kills and added 14 digs and three blocks as the Spartans ground out a 25-21, 19-25, 14-25, 25-23, 15-12 road victory over Hamilton to clinch a share of the Mid-Valley league title.

The Spartans are co-champions with Hamilton. Earlier this year, the Braves dropped East Nicolaus 3-1 at home. This time, the Spartans (21-6, 9-1) would prevail with additional solid play from players like Juliet Conant, who had 16 kills, 14 digs and 10 blocks and Emily Toldeo, who added nine kills and 15 digs.
