Roundup: Presswood earns medal

May 10, 2008 11:55 pm

Appeal-Democrat

Brandon Presswood, a freshman at Faith Christian, won a medal at the Sac-Joaquin Section swimming finals at Tokay High in Lodi on Saturday.

Presswood, Faith's first-ever swimmer, finished third in the boys 100-yard backstroke, timing 57.65 seconds. That broke the school record he set in Friday's trials — a 58.4.

Presswood also finished fifth in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:58.2, just missing the record he set Friday of 4:57.32.

Because Faith does not have a swim team, Presswood competed in tri-meets with a Sacramento-area high school during the regular season in order to qualify for the post-season.
