Prep Roundup: Y.C. girls notch win over Woodland
Pereiro drops 17 to lead Lady Honkers; Lindhurst doubles up on Encina
A big game from Chloe Pereiro gave the Yuba City High girls basketball team cause to celebrate.
Pereiro scored 17 points, Mariah Curry added 14 and Yuba City toppled visiting Woodland 49-42 on Thursday, giving the hard-luck Honkers their second win of the season.
The victory over the Wolves, who beat the Honkers by nine earlier this season, means that Yuba City (2-16, 1-5) will have at least doubled their win total from last year after a 1-21 2009 season.
Lindhurst 48, Encina 20
Brenna Gates scored 19 points to lead the Blazers to an easy Golden Empire League win on the road.
Ashanti Sweezer tallied 10 points and Raquel Hammond had eight points for the Blazers (10-8, 4-2).
Inderkum 66, River Valley 31
Alexandra Tanner had 10 points in the loss for River Valley (6-13, 2-4).
BOYS BASKETBALL
Willows 56, Pierce 37
Cesar Perez scored 12 points but no other teammates reached double digits in the loss for the Bears (5-10, 0-3).
Pierce entered the second quarter down by six points but were all but out of the contest by halftime after being outscored 21-4 by the Honkers.

Live Oak 5, Hamilton 1
A Hector Cibrian hat trick paved the way for a convincing Sacramento Valley League win for the Lions on the road.
Aduardo Aceves notched the Lions' other two goals and added an assist. Pedro Valencia, Agustin Garcia and Cibrian also had assists for Live Oak.
Jesus Medina and Joaquin Bermudez played solid defense for the Lions (8-3-2, 7-3-2).
Durham 3, Colusa 1
Luis Benitez made a goal on a penalty kick for the Redskins and Christian Avila had nine saves in the loss at home for the Redskins (2-8-2, 2-7-2).

Sonia Klingensmith scored a pair of goals for the Pirates in their Butte View League tie at home.
Jackie Colemanares picked up an assist for Wheatland (5-2).

Jessica Garcia's hat trick helped keep the Redskins' perfect season intact with the win at home.
Nanci Villanueva scored a goal with one assist and Carli Marengo had one assist for Colusa (12-0, 7-0).
Sutter 5, Orland 0
Alisan Schmidt scored two goals for the Huskies, who remain unblemished in Butte View League play.
Jaymi Hill added a goal and two assists, Morgan Graham had a goal with an assist and Erika Linch made a goal for Sutter (11-1, 8-0).

Cheyenne Rogers scored 16 points and Emily Mobley scored 12 points for the Redskins (12-6, 2-2).

Taylor Massengale scored 16 points to lead the Falcons (11-5, 4-1) to a TCC win on the road.
Woodland 32, Yuba City 23
Kayla Treanor scored six points and Leslie Phillips and Tiffany Friend added five each as the Honkers fell to 1-5 in TCC play.
