Area teams thrive at sub-sections
Raquel Hammond represented the Lindhurst High track and field team with a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.48-seconds at the Division III Sac-Joaquin Section meet in Modesto earlier this week.
She also placed second in the 100 (12.75).
For the boys division, Jurrell Davis was third in the 800. Beronica Rivera had a personal best in the 3,200 (13:59). Kendrick Jones competed in the high jump and reached a height of 6-feet.
Marysville's Alexis Grove placed seventh in the triple jump (33-1).
River Valley's Kym Crosby placed third in the 400 (58:07) and seventh in the 200 (26.91) in the Div. II finals on Friday after placing fourth in the 400 (58.69) and sixth in the 200 (26.20) in the sub-sections on Wednesday.
Meredith Salazar was 17th in the 3,200 (13:15.33).
Other performers in the sub-sections were Haley Thompson in the shot put (29-6, 16th) and Vanessa Kennedy in the 300 hurdles (51.71, 14th) and the long jump (13-3, 19th).
Kennedy, Crosby, Salazar and Joy Borromeo placed 16th in the 1,600 relay (4:33.73). On the boys side, Abdul Ghafour was 21st in the 3,200 with a personal best time of 10:46.98 on Friday.
On Wednesday, the team of Keith Wager, Justin Brousseau, Brandon Wolucka and Jordan Vida placed 10th in the 400 relay (44.11) and 16th in the 1,600 (3:35.60).
In the 200, Wager placed 18th (23.21), Vida was 20th (23.56) and Wolucka was 22nd (23.65). Wolucka was 20th in the 100 (11.63).
Wager competed in the 400 (52.99; 16th); Brousseau wan the 300 hurdles (45.02, 18th); and Vida competed in the long jump (19-6.75, 13th). In pole vaulting, Adam Blank was 13th (11-9) and Jacob Edwards was 15th (11-3) for the Falcons.
Bernell Barmore placed fourth in the 110 high hurdles (14.49) for Yuba City. He also competed in the long jump (18-6).
The team of Barmore, Gagneet Singh, Olumide Coker and Trevor Moffis competed in the 400 relay with a season best time of 45:06. The team of Barmore, Trevor Hammill, Singh and Razzada ran in the 1,600 (3:45.46). Coker raced in the 100 (11.38).
On the girls side, Wonwyne Hale placed ninth in the shot put (32-0) and Jessica Soto ran the 110 high hurdles (20.10) and the 800 (2:54.35).
