Nisperos in the Masters
The Yuba City High track and field team wrapped up the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II championships over the weekend, and it ended with senior Alex Nisperos moving on to the Masters.
Nisperos had a throw of 149-feet, 7-inches in the discus, topping his personal best by 25 feet.
Bernell Barmore finished third in the 110 hurdles (15.25) and ninth in the long jump (20-8.5) and will move on as well.
Wonwyne Hale threw the shot put 33-0 and will move as an alternate to Thursday's Masters event at Hughes Stadium in Sacramento.
Sutter cruises
Sutter High's Kelsey Bradley took first in pole vault (9-9), long jump (16-3.5) and triple jump (33-8) to move on to the Section Masters event on Friday. Erika Linch took first four events to lead the JV team to first-place finish in the Division II championships.
Live Oak's Allen, Dumitras in
Daniela Dumitras won the SVL championship over the weekend in Chico with a school record 5-5 jump. On Friday, she beat her competition by 6 inches, leaping 5-4 on her way to the Division II championship at Wheatland. She'll be at the Masters this week, along with teammate Kaleb Allen.
Allen, a junior sprinter, placed second in the 100 (11.73) at the meet and third in the 200 (23.02). Allen will compete in the 200 at the Masters as an at-large qualifier and is the second alternate in the 100.
