Lions fall short in title game
Live Oak High's boys soccer team gave everything it had during Saturday's Northern Section Division II championship game in Orland before two goals in the final 15 minutes lifted the Trojans to a 4-1 victory.
"The field conditions were terrible, but we had some chances," Live Oak coach Mike Owen said. "We didn't play all that bad, but the mud just wore us down."
Adaro Aceves scored the lone goal for the Lions (14-4-2), who saw strong performances by Hector Cibrian, Xavier Lopez and Tony Montes as well.
Live Oak goalkeeper Joel Cibrian nothched 12 saves in the loss.
