Roundup: Sutter volleyball continues to roll in BVL
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Whitney Lee had 14 kills and three blocks and Jessica Moore tallied 13 service points with four aces and nine kills as the Sutter High volleyball team remained unbeaten in the Butte View League with a 25-19, 25-23, 25-14 victory over visiting Orland on Thursday.
Kayli Paulucci notched 29 assists and Miriah Stout was strong from behind the line with 12 service points for the Huskies (36-1, 7-0). Sydney Meyer pitched in with five kills and Audrey Dufor had four digs.
The Huskies JVs won, 25-10, 25-15, behind Shayla Gidel's four kills and six service points and Sam Foster's four assists.
Sutter's freshmen won, 25-16, 25-23. Bianca DeRee had eight service points, four aces and three kills and Nicole Owens tallied four kills.
East Nicolaus 3, Williams 2
Juliet Conant had 24 kills and four blocks and Haley Uhland ran the offense with 33 assists as the visiting Spartans were able to get by the Yellowjackets, 23-25, 25-12, 23-25, 25-11, 15-10.
Mariah Walker added five kills, four aces and two blocks and Hailey Green chipped in with six digs.
Yuba City 3, Natomas 0
Danielle Holmes had 12 kills, Taylor Thompson added 17 assists and six aces and the Honkers cruised past Natomas, 25-11, 25-18, 25-8 in a Tri-County Conference contest.
Annabel Mendoza had five kills for Yuba City (10-9, 6-1).
FRESHMAN FOOTBALL
Natomas 23, Yuba City 16
A 70-yard kickoff return by Mark Schoel that eventually setup a Randy Romero seven-yard touchdown run wasn't enough for the Honkers.
Josh Schlaughter recovered a fumble and ran 45 yards for a touchdown and Cody Carniege successfully ran in both of the Honkers' (3-4,1-1) two-point conversions.
Davis Harper and Jakob Courmier played strong defensively for the Honkers.
Wheatland 74, Las Plumas 46
Quarterback Nolan West threw for six touchdowns and ran for one as the Pirates rolled to a BVL win on the road.
Haydon Liessmar and Tyler Larcom scored multiple times for Wheatland (6-2, 1-1). Mike Zimmerman and Colton Sanders both scored once. David Quezada returned the second-half kickoff for a touchdown.

The Colusa girls remained undefeated in the BVL with a win over Wheatland.
Carli Marengo took second place to lead Colusa in the varsity girls race against Sutter a week ago.
