Prep Roundup: Uhland serves up win for Spartans

Haley Uhland served for 25 straight points in the third game of the contest to help the East Nicolaus High volleyball team to 25-8, 25-11, 25-0 sweep over host Biggs on Thursday.

Uhland tallied 21 assists, 14 aces and five digs. Katie Michel had 13 kills and Darleen Herrin finished with three kills and three blocks for East Nicolaus (16-10).

New Life Chr. 3, Trinity Prep 0

Kiley DeLozier served nine straight points in the first game to help New Life come back from an 18-9 deficit and defeat Trinity Prep in the Northern Pacific Athletic Conference contest.

Mackenzie Ford and Haley Moody were also credited for their play from the service line.

DeLozier and Katrina Cobb had good games at the net for the Crusaders (8-5, 7-0).

Sutter 3, Winters 0

Shaila Gidel had 13 service points, five kills and four aces in the 25-18, 25-13, 25-12 road victory for the Huskies.

Katie Olson had 12 service points, four aces and five kills, Sam Foster had 20 assists and Allie Foster added seven digs for Sutter (13-9, 6-0).

Colusa 3, Durham 0

Katie Mobley had eight kills, Emily Mobley had 16 assists, six kills and six aces and the Redskins (14-8, 4-2) rolled Durham 25-12, 25-18, 25-15.

BOYS SOCCER

West Campus 3, Marysville 0

Robert Williamson and Brian Tuttle were credited for their efforts, but the Indians fell in the Golden Empire League contest.

Marysville fell to 1-7-1. The JV team lost 2-1. Neil Linginfelter scored the lone goal and Alan Medina played well in goal.

GIRLS TENNIS

TCC doubles playoffs

Yuba City's Janelle Yahn and Krissy Kent teamed up to win the A Flight TCC doubles tournament at Rancho Cortez.

The Honkers' duo won the tourney with a 7-6, 7-5 win over a team from Inderkum.

River Valley's Allison Jarvis and Elizabeth Huth lost to a team from Woodland 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 in the semifinals of the Super Doubles tournament. On the other side of the bracket, Yuba City's tandem of Sophie Poukish and Amanda Perry lost to a pair from Inderkum 6-1, 6-1, also in the semis.

FRESHMAN FOOTBALL

Sutter 49, Gridley 14

Brad Bonnenfant scored on runs of 46 and 3 yards and hauled in a 70 yard touchdown pass from Trenton McDaniel to lead the Huskies to the road win.

Trace Murtha had a 70-yard kick-off return and Franklin Tarke had a 55-yard pick-six for Sutter (5-3, 1-0).

Yuba City 35, Pioneer 13

Omar Herrera had 279 yards rushing on 19 carries and scored five touchdowns to lift the Honkers to a TCC victory over the Patriots at home.

Herrera's five-touchdown performance gives him a total of 26 on the year.

Austin Bradfield, Juan Gomez and Mauro Palma played well defensively and Ricardo Franco added an interception in the win for the Honkers (7-1, 2-1).

Yuba 3, Los Medanos 1

Hailey Harris had 18 kills, five digs and two block to lead the 49ers to the 25-23, 25-18, 18-25, 25-15.

Kelijo Boney had seven kills and 11 digs and Taylor Thompson had 34 assists and four digs for Yuba (10-6, 7-2).
