Bulldogs top Indians

Lawna Sannar had eight kills and Katie Olson added seven to lead the Gridley High volleyball team to a 22-25, 25-22, 25-16, 25-19 victory at Marysville in the Bulldogs' season opener on Wednesday.

Ashtyn MacFarlane had six kills and Mallory Walton finished with five in the win for Gridley (1-0).

Danielle Ferrari had 12 assists, five digs, three kills and three aces, Marissa Clavelle added five blocks and five kills and Jocelyn Talosig had 20 digs and two aces in a losing effort for the Indians (1-1).

Gridley won the junior varsity match 25-9, 25-15, while Marysville won the freshman match 25-16, 20-25, 17-15. Taylor Ferrari had five aces and three kills and Holly Tarr finished with three kills and an ace for the Indians in the win.
