Prep Roundup: Sutter volleyball on cruise control; R.V. posts win

Junior Sam Foster stepped up in the setter position with 28 assists to help the Huskies to a 25-6, 25-9, 25-14 Butte View League victory over Las Plumas on Thursday.

Audrey Durfor finished with 19 digs, 12 service points and three aces. Brenna McDonald had 11 kills and 10 straight service points in the first match.

Katelyn Olson tallied 13 service points and an ace while Shaila Gidel had nine kills for the Huskies (33-3, 9-0).

East Nicolaus 3, Los Molinos 0

Haley Uhland finished with 28 assists, five aces and four digs to lead the Spartans (19-6, 7-1) to a Mid-Valley League victory at home.

Stephanie Hagins had 13 kills, four aces and two blocks and Juliet Conant finished with 12 kills, five assists and three blocks.

The junior varsity Pirates lost 25-11, 25-17.

River Valley 3, Natomas 1

Hayley Thompson finished with 14 kills and five blocks and Chelsy Jurado tallied 29 assists to help the Falcons to a 25-19, 16-25, 25-16, 25-10 Tri-County Conference victory at home.

Alex Tanner had 12 kills and Taylor Loehrer finished with seven kills for River Valley (2-7).

The JV team won 25-20, 25-18 and the freshman team won 25-15, 25-10.

Bradshaw Chr. 3, Faith Chr. 2

Sarah Hall tallied 23 digs and four aces, but the Lions fell in the Sacramento Metropolitan Athletic League road game.

Morgan Trimble had 15 digs and 11 kills and Lindsay Barnett finished with 10 digs, six kills and four blocks.

Gabi Hinz had 14 assists and nine kills for Faith Christian (14-4, 9-4).

Gridley 3, Wheatland 2

Rocio Rodriguez was 100 percent from the service line with 17 assists, three digs and two kills to help Wheatland in the 25-18, 25-18, 13-25, 20-25, 11-15 BVL loss at home.

Rachel Johnson had 13 kills, three aces and two blocks and Brittany Keys had 13 kills. Anna West finished with 11 kills and six digs for the Pirates (4-5).

Live Oak 3, Pierce 1

Ashley Howell had 10 kills, three blocks and an ace to help lead the Lions to a Sacramento Valley League victory.

Bibi Alejo tallied seven kills, Jessica Mejia added five aces for the Lions (10-8, 5-3).

Marysville 3, Encina 0

Danielle Ferrari had six aces, six assists, four digs and three kills to help the Indians to a 25-12, 25-10, 25-14 Golden Empire League victory.

Ashley McKiernan had three aces, a kill and an assist and Hailey Harris finished with three kills and an ace for Marysville (11-12, 4-6).

The junior varsity team won 25-8, 25-4. Carissa Ramirez had 12 aces, three kills and an ace.

Sutter 35, Las Plumas 0

Nathan Ahlers scored two touchdowns, the Huskies defense notched their seventh shutout of the season and the Huskies (9-0) remain perfect on the year.

Mat Sanders, Forrest Smith and Jared Miller all added rushing touchdowns.

Wheatland 32, Gridley 0

Damane Tenner scored three touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs to a win. Mike Robinson added a touchdown and Cameron Perkins scooped up a fumble recovery for a score for Wheatland (7-1, 4-0).

Inderkum 32, Yuba City 16

Nathan Gilming caught a 28 yard pass for a touchdown and Nate Van Dusen had a seven-yard touchdown run, but the Honkers (5-3, 2-1) fell.
