Geyer 13th at Poppy Ridge
Ben Geyer, of Arbuckle, finished 13th at a Northern California Golf Association Junior Tour event over the weekend.
Geyer shot an 83 on Saturday and a 77 on Sunday at the Chardonnay/Zinfandel courses at Poppy Ridge Golf Course in Livermore against a field of other high school teens.
Geyer finished with a 160, which was near the top of the pack in a field of 64 golfers.
Colusa's Rinzler places 5th
Colusa's Mimi Rinzler finished fifth at the Marysville Invitational girls varsity cross country meet on Friday.
Teammate Carli Marengo finished 6th, while Colusa's Kiley Herrick placed 10th.
TC Blazers cheer squad advances
Three Twin Cities Blazers cheer squads took first place at a regional cheer competition on Sunday.
The mighty mites, the junior pee wees and the midget squads each placed first.
The first-place finish catapaulted the teams into a California state cheer competition, which will be held on Nov. 9.
The high scores also earned the Blazers a spot to compete in the Las Vegas Nationals in February.
The midget team includes, Allison Crawford, Daisy Fuentas, Kayla Lizama-Pierson, Elysebeth Purdue and Alyssa Smith.
