Comments 0 | Recommend 0The high-octane Grant Pacers really didn't need any help, but when Honkers' point guard Shannon Cassidy went down with a knee injury early in the second quarter, Grant took advantage in the first round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Div. "When Shannon went down we were down seven points," Yuba City coach John Cassidy said. "After that, we struggled."
Collette Eugene poured in 23 points for No. 5 Grant (18-7).
No. 12 Yuba City (17-11) was paced by Cassidy and Brieann Richins, each with eight points.
Wheatland 65, Trinity 49
The Pirates made their long trip to Weaverville worth while, returning with a first-round win in the Northern Section Div. IV playoffs.
Molly Doan scored 18 points for No. 10 Wheatland (9-17), which will face second-seeded Gridley on Thursday at Farmer's Hall.
Bridget McClarrinon added 11 points, nine rebounds and two blocks for the Pirates, who also got eight from Hasti Makarizanden and Christina Fletcher, who also had 11 rebounds. Lauren Linquist added seven points.
