Prep Roundup: East Nicolaus thumps Esparto
East Nicolaus 9, Esparto 1
Mikey Zimmerman went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, Aaron Cater finished 2 for 4 with two doubles and drove in a pair of runs and the Spartans remained unbeaten in Mid-Valley League play by topping Esparto at home.
Justin Ozcan went 2 for 3 with three RBIs and Joel Wilson was 2 for 4 with an RBI as well for East Nicolaus (9-3, 4-0).
Lindhurst 6, Valley 1
Timmy Zucco tallied 10 strikeouts on the mound and went 2 for 4 with a triple to lead the Blazers to a victory at the Rancho Cordova Classic.
On Wednesday, the Blazers fell 13-5 to Mesa Verde with Zucco going 3 for 4.

Willows 2, East Nicolaus 1
Amanda Taylor tallied seven strikeouts and went 1 for 2 with a double, but the Spartans fell in eight innings at home after being one-hit on the day.
GIRLS SOCCER
Yuba City 2, River Valley 0
Cassidy Fix and Lexi Giusti both found the back of the net and Kayla Howard and Sabrina Gonzalez tallied assists as the Honkers topped the Falcons at River Valley.
Janelle Yahn added solid play for the Honkers (7-4-4, 4-3-3).
The Honkers' JV team won 2-0. Joann Yahn and Daisy Sanchez both scored for Yuba City and Maria Pantoja, Maria Chavez and Shelby Martinez all played well for the Honkers.
SWIMMING
River Valley, Yuba City go 1-2 at TCC Championships
The boys and girls swimming teams from Yuba City and River Valley had a big day in the pool by finishing 1st and 2nd at the Tri-County Conference Championships at Gauche Aquatic Park.
The Falcons won the boys title with a score of 609 and the Honkers were second with a score of 326. On the girls side, Yuba City claimed the championship with 518 points, while River Valley was second with a 467.
River Valley's Tyler Bellenfant was the top performer on the boys side by placing first in the 200-yard freestyle (1 minute, 54.15 seconds) and the 100 breaststroke (1:04.10). He also teamed with Connor Lamon, Varinder Singh and Maxwell Lammert on the winning 200 medley relay team (1:52.45) and joined Lamon, Lammert and Samuel Cesena on the winning 200 freestyle relay team (1:43.75).
Lamon also placed first in the 200 individual medley (2:11.34) and diving (402.90 points), while Lammert was first in the 50 freestyle (23.08) and 500 freestyle (5:20.46).
Keegan Lammert won the 100 backstroke (1:05.49) and teamed up with Singh, Samuel Cesena and Johnny Cyrstalinas to win the 400 freestyle relay (4:02.42) for the Falcons.
Brandon Presswood led Yuba City by winning the 100 butterfly (55.33) and 100 freestyle (48.98). His freestyle time set school and TCC records.
In all, the Falcons and Honkers combined to win every event in the boys competition.
Katie Higdon led the way for the Honkers' girls team by taking first in the 200 individual medley (2:26.51) and 500 freestyle (5:58.16). She also teamed with Audrey Kitchen, Kimmey Gillming and Brianna Cameron on the winning 400 freestyle relay team (4:23.02).
Kitchen also went on to win the 100 butterfly (1:15.39) for Yuba City.
River Valley's top performer was Erica Bellenfant, who placed first in the 200 freestyle (2:03.28) and 100 backstroke (1:06.87). Bellenfant also teamed with Allison Sawyer, Samantha Ludwig and Gabriella Coomes to win the 200 medley relay (2:13.41) and joined Sawyer, Paola Maldonado and Shayna Sayre on the winning 200 freestyle relay (1:59.90).

Falcons split with Inderkum
River Valley's girls team improved to 3-0-1 in TCC dual meets by beating Inderkum 79-38 on Wednesday.
Kym Crosby led the way by winning the 100 (12.4), 200 (26.4) and 400 (59.3) and joining Fenny Descuatan, freshman Leanne Jarvis and Courtney Haight on the first-place 1600 relay (4:32.0).
Jarvis set a school record in the 1600 with a time of 5:27.5 and captured the 800 with a time of 2:32.5, also a school record.
Harkiran Everest set a school record in the 300 hurdles (49.9) and won the 3200 (15:35.5), Descuatan won the shot put (22-0) and discus (64-10) and Vanessa Kennedy won the 100 hurdles (17.0) to round out the scores for River Valley.
The Falcons' boys team fell to Inderkum 72-64.
Swarnjit Boyal won the 1600 (4:57.1) and 3200 (10:49.0), and Dale Williams won the shot put (42-5) and discus (121-0), but River Valley was overwhelmed in the sprints and jump pit to fall to 1-3 in TCC duals.
River Valley's boys JV team won 84-40 to improve to 3-1 in the TCC.
Anthony Hewitt was a triple-winner by taking first in the 110 hurdles (16.5), triple jump (43-11) and high jump (5-4). David Hoskins won the discus (80-3), Alex Samay won the 300 hurdles (50.0), Andres Quijas won the 1600 (4:57.6) and Amrit Boyal took first in the 800 (2:20.9).
The Falcons' JV girls team also won 58-41 to move to 3-1 in league.
