Prep Roundup: Beale's Wimbs does it again

T.J. Wimbs of Beale Air Force Base and Twin Cities Judo Club took first at the U.S. Open Ju Jitsu Tournament to be the Blue Belt Heavyweight Champion last weekend.

He was also first in a Sacramento Open. He took first and a second at the Blue Belt National. All four tournaments took place in one month's span.

CHEERLEADING

The Wheatland Pirates cheerleaders took three first-place finishes at the Southern Conference Division II cheer competition for the Northern California Federation of youth football on Sunday.

The midgets squad was first in both cheer and dance. The pee wee team won the cheer competition while the junior midgets team took second for cheer.

Both first place teams advance to the state competition on Nov. 15 in Palo Cedro.

JUNIOR FOOTBALL

The River Valley pee wees team beat Pioneer 33-8 last weekend to secure a third seed and playoff berth.

The junior midget team secured the No. 2 seed of the Southern Conference Division I with the 31-0 shutout victory.

The midget team locked down the championship with a 32-0 victory.

The junior mighty mite cheer team won the overall championships for their age group at the Jamz Competition at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo.

Finishing third was the pee wee and junior midget teams.
