Roundup: Yuba City's Coker wins 100 at Nevada Union Invite
Olumide Coker won the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.21-seconds for the Yuba City High track and field team at the Nevada Union Invite on Friday. He also helped his team of Gagneet Singh, Abraham Barajas and Bernell Barmore to a 10th place finish in the 400 relay (45.87).
Barmore placed sixth in the 110 high hurdles (16.06) and 14th in the long jump with a distance of 18-feet, 2.5-inches. Singh was 17th in the long jump (18-1.5). Evan German was 13th in the 800 (2:11.33. Reed Cook was 13th in the 300 hurdles (45.96) and Jose Guzman was 13th in the 3,200 (11:17.96).
Rodney Dunn placed 16th in the shot put (40-7.5) and the discus (115-11). Rashed Razzada was 16th in the 800 (2:12.28) and Trevor Hammill finished right behind him for 17th place (2:12.67).
For the girls side, Wonwyne Hale took sixth in the shot put (32-5) and 19th in the discus (77-4).
Cindy Haymore was 16th in the 200 (29.5) and 17th in the 100 (13.88). Jessica Soto finished 18th in the 800 (2:52.66) and Liliana Pinedo was 18th in the 1,600 (6:48.44) for the Honkers.
Sutter track cruises
Sutter's team of Grant Campbell, Jon Garcia, Justin Gildemeister, and Dane Turner placed fourth in the 400 relay (44.81).
Turner was fifth in the high jump (5-8) and Leszek Ratajczak was eighth (5-6). Ratajczak placed fifth in the 110 hurdles (16.01).
Gildemeister placed eighth in the pole vault event (11-0). Bentley Nunes placed ninth in the 3,200 (10.41.9) and 10th in the 1,600 (4:51.34). Nick Putman was 10th in the shot put (42-3.5) and 13th in the discus (118-5).
BOXING
Marysville's Louis Padilla, 15, who fights for Hit Squad Boxing Center, defeated his opponent in the first round at Friday Night Knockouts in Colusa Casino.
Padilla won by technical knockout after one round.
RUNNING
Hal Tracker and Rachel LaGrande turned in the fastest times in their divisions at the second annual Soroptimist Girls on the Run 5K run on Saturday.
Tracker finished with a time of 20:57 in the men's 46-55 division. LaGrande was first in the women's 26-35 division (26:09).
Eli Selvidge was first in the 12-16 men's division (17.53). Tim McClesky came in first in the 26-35 division (22:37) and Gary Smith won the 36-45 division (28:37). Mike Buzbee was first in the 56-65 group and Ken Gall won the 66 and over division (23.21).
Faith Pauls won the under 11 women's division (27:03) and Katalyn Wells was first in the 12-16 group (26:29).
Whitney Barnhill finished first in the 17-25 group (27:05).
Toni Watson won the 36-45 division (27:04). Nancy Northern was first in the 46-55 group (30:22) and Cindy Gobel won the 56-65 group (29:16).
TENNIS
Marysville's Kong Xiong and Moriah Edwards were the champions in mixed doubles at the Golden Empire League girls singles tournament last week
Lindhurst's Choua Thao finished second. Mee Thao finished third.
Marysville's Kong Xiong was fourth in boys singles.
In girls doubles, Marysville's Kayla Elder and Corey Anderson were third. The team of Nick Kautz and Julia Findley were fourth in mixed doubles for Marysville.
JV BASEBALL
Marysville 10, Lindhurst 0
Cody Childers pitched the complete game shutout with nine strikeouts to help the Indians to their second straight undefeated league season.
