Prep Roundup: May, Wheatland lighting up BVL; East Nic's Taylor throws perfect game
Wheatland just keeps on rolling.
Randi May tallied 14 strikeouts, Melanie Permann went 3 for 4 with a double and the Pirates softball team improved to 7-0 in Butte View League play with a 5-0 win over Winters on Tuesday.
Taylor Crabb was 2 for 3 with a double, Kirstin Johnson was 2 for 2 and KC Silva was 2 for 4 for the Pirates (12-6) in the home victory.
The Pirates JV team won 4-2 over Marysville.
Amy Nichols was 3 for 3 and Tahnee Rios was 2 for 3 with a double and a triple for the Pirates (13-1).
East Nicolaus 10, Portola 0
Amanda Taylor's day was literally perfect.
The Spartans pitcher tossed a spotless five innings with nine strikeouts and East Nicolaus improved to 3-0 in the MVL home win.
Sierra Lehman was 1 for 3 with a homer and three RBIs and Katelyn Evans was 2 for 3 with a RBI.
Sutter 4, Gridley 1
Courtney Gravel was 1 for 2 with a double and Gabbie Miles went 1 for 2 in the BVL home win.

Marysville 14, West Campus 0
Derrick Brown struck out seven in five innings, Cody Childers was 2 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs, and the Indians rolled to a mercy-rule win on the road.
Cameron Henrickson was 3 for 4 with a double, Davis Walker went 2 for 3 with a double and Blake Freechtle was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs for Marysville (8-3, 7-2).
River Valley 11, Natomas 2
Greg Cannon and Austin Spencer were both 2 for 4 with a double as the Falcons rolled the Nighthawks on the road.
Jake Phillips was 2 for 3 and Cameron Olson belted a two-run homer for River Valley (11-2) in game one of the best-of-three Tri-County Conference series.
Maxwell 22, Redding Chr. 2
Another game, another blowout for the undefeated Panthers.
Bryce Perry was 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs, Tyler Wells went 2 for 2 with a two RBIs and David Lee was 2 for 2 with three RBIs in the road win for Maxwell (22-0, 7-0).
Winters 10, Wheatland 2
Nolan West pitched strong for four innings before Winters unloaded five runs in the fifth to put the Pirates away in a BVL matchup in Wheatland.
West went 2 for 4 and struck out six from the mound, while Dan Hernandez went 2 for 3 and Tyler Kreditor drove in a run on a triple for Wheatland (8-5, 5-2).
Sutter 3, Gridley 1
Nathan Ahlers was 2 for 3, Morgan Osgood went 1 for 3 with an RBI and Weston Chillders was 1 for 2 with a double and an RBI in the home BVL win for Sutter (10-2, 4-1).
The Huskies JV team won 11-0 to improve to 17-0 overall. Hayden Heilman hit a triple with two RBIs and Colton Minton belted a two-run homer.
Forest Lake Chr. 5, Faith Chr. 2
Chris Harmon went 1 for 2 with a triple and two runs in the road loss for Faith.
Blake Lavin was 1 for 3 with an RBI and Sam Ithurburn went 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI for the Lions (1-8, 1-4).

Kevin Hicks hit a double for one of the Wolverines' two hits in the home loss.

Y.C., R.V. compete at invite
The Falcons topped the Honkers by just a single stroke to finish 10th at the Woodland-Yuba City Invitational at Yocha-De-He Resort.
The Falcons, led by Steven Spatafore (83), William Jow (88) and Lucas Vaughn (93), finished with a 464, while the Honkers recorded a 465. The Honkers were led by Taylor Brown's 78, Gus Wiezorek's 82 and Riley Horan's 85 in a tournament with 14 teams.
Dixon 228, Marysville 250
Dory Karcher and Logan Brown each shot a 44 at Peach Tree Golf & Country Club to lead Marysville in a loss to Dixon.
SOCCER
Dixon 2, Lindhurst 0
Ellie Yang, Kia Vang and Mailia Xiong all played well on defense in the home loss for the Blazers (1-5-2, 1-3-2).
The Blazers' JV team fell 4-1. Ashley Yang, Tiffany Yang, Rosa Parra and Mai Kou Vue all played well for the Blazers.
West Campus 4, Marysville 1
Makayla Synak scored and Alyssa Villa notched the assist in the home loss for the Indians (2-6-2, 0-3-1).
The Indians JV team lost 5-0. Haley Adams played well in the midfield for Marysville.
Faith 4, Trinity Prep 0
Sarah Hall notched a hat trick and Lacy Bicknell added a goal and an assist in the road win for the Lions (6-6-1, 3-1).
Martha DeLaVega added an assist for Faith.
TENNIS
Wheatland 7, Sutter 2
The Pirates clinched a share of the Butte View League title by topping the Huskies at home.
Theo Lepeau (6-2, 7-5), Cameron Bushling (6-3, 6-1), Josh Petersen (6-4, 6-1), Derek Zepp (6-1, 6-1) and Anthony Lee (6-4, 6-0) all won singles matches for the Pirates (13-1, 5-1), who now share BVL honors with Orland.
Steffan Wagman and Petersen (8-2) and Zepp and Lee (8-0) won in doubles for Wheatland.
Top-seeded Michael Munguia (6-3, 6-3) won his singles match for the Huskies and teamed up with Sam Ruxton for a doubles victory (9-7).
JV BASEBALL
River Valley 12, Dixon 0
Cody McBride was 3 for 4 with an RBI and Greg Delatorre was 2 for 3 in the nonleague road win for the Falcons (4-9).
JV SOCCER
Yuba City 2, Inderkum 2
Maria Martinez scored both the Honkers' goals and Joanne Yahn and Maria Chavez both played well for Yuba City (5-4-5, 1-1-5) in the tie at home.

Chris Stocker was 3 for 4, but the 49ers (9-20) dropped to 5-13 in the Bay Valley Conference in the home loss.
SOFTBALL
Mendocino 5, Yuba 4
Mendocino 12, Yuba 4
The 49ers dropped a BVC doubleheader on the road and lost a player to injury.
In the second game, the 49ers Dana Mahoney broke her leg sliding. Yuba Coach Stephanie Reynolds said Mahoney had surgery on her leg in Mendocino and is doing OK.
Jackie Sizemore was 4 for 7 with two doubles and three RBIs on the day to lead Yuba (1-23, 1-15).
