Prep Roundup: Lady Lions cruise past Pirates
No. 1 singles player Jennifer De Witt won her match 6-0, 6-1 to lead the Live Oak High girls tennis team to a 7-0 victory at Wheatland on Tuesday.
Fermina Chavez (6-1, 6-0), Lucero Topete (6-1, 6-3), Jewel Wise (6-3, 6-3) and Andrea Long (6-3, 6-3) also won singles matches for the Lions (3-0, 2-0).
Crystal Rodriguez and Wise (8-0) and De Witt and Chavez (9-7) added doubles wins for Live Oak.
Yuba City 6, Woodcreek 3
Hannah Poukish (6-2, 6-3), Amanda Terry (6-4, 6-2), Rumyn Purewal (6-3, 6-4) and Anisha Gill (3-6, 2-4, retirement) won their singles match to jump start the Honkers to a win over Woodcreek in their season opener.
In doubles, Janelle Yahn and Krissy Kent (0-6, 6-3, 10-8) and Julia Lancaster and Dalenna Duffy (6-4, 6-1) won for Yuba City (1-0).

Marysville 4, Florin 2
Nick Jones recorded a hat trick and Eloy Sanchez added another goal to lift the Indians to a nonleague win over Florin at home in their season opener.
Tanner Mailloux, Eric Chong and Sanchez each had an assist for Marysville (1-0), which saw strong defensive play from Sang Nguyen.
Ricky Campos recorded another hat trick and Eric Tinoco kicked in a goal to lead Marysville to a 5-2 victory in the junior varsity game.
Faith Christian 1, Victory Christian 0
Alex Lopez scored the game's lone goal to lead the Lions to win over Victory Christian in their season opener.
Blake Gaspard, Micah Atkins, Joe Childers, Robbie Farley and Cameron Ripley and goalie Jesse Clark played solid defense for Faith Christian (1-0) in the win.

Senior captain Morgan Trimble had nine blocks and eight kills to lift the Lions to a five-set 26-24, 25-19, 13-25, 21-25, 23-21 win over Victory Christian at home.
Libero Sarah Hall added 14 digs, 19 service points and six aces for Faith Christian (1-1) in the win.
Frances Childers had five kills and Abbie Rollins added four in Faith Christian's 25-14, 25-21 loss to Victory Christian in the junior varsity game.
Colusa 3, River Valley 1
Caroline Meyers, Cheyenne Rogers and Emily Mobley each had terrific all-around games to lead the Redskins (1-0) to a hard-faught 25-23, 19-25, 32-30, 26-24 win at River Valley in their season opener.
