LITTLE LEAGUEL Marysville minor softball slips past O-L
Sophie Afato and Marissa Solario both went a perfect 4 for 4 to lead the Marysville minor softball all-star team to a tightly-contested 12-11 victory over Olivehurst-Linda in District 2 Little League tournament play in Wheatland on Wednesday night.
Solario finished the game with three RBIs and Afato scored four runs and drove in another for Marysville, which staved off elimination with the win.
Josie Rapp went 3 for 4 with a pair of RBIs and struck out four in a complete-game effort to record the victory.
Mattie Cheaver went 2 for 4 with two RBIs, Haley Rogers finished 2 for 4 with a triple and scored twice, and Carly Lay was 2 for 4 with two runs scored to lead the way for Olivehurst-Linda.
Colusa 8, Wheatland 4
Sophie Stocks belted a three-run triple and Helena Harris struck out eight from the circle to power Colusa past host Wheatland on Wednesday night.
Dyanna Santana went 3 for 4 with a run scored and Jessica Aickel was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs scored to help the cause for Colusa.
Emily Wilkins tripled, Tara Lamb and Tatum McLanahan both singled and Ryleigh Webb struck out 10 batters for Wheatland, which was eliminated from the tournament with the loss.
Sutter Area 9, Colusa 1
Samantha Farmer went 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs to help lead Sutter Area past Colusa in Wheatland on Tuesday night.
Stephanie Bartlemay also went 2 for 4 with an RBI and three runs scored, and Reagan Ford struck out 11 while allowing just three hits in the win for Sutter Area.
Dyanna Santana had an RBI single to lead the way for Colusa.
Peach Bowl 4, Olivehurst-Linda 2
Kami Maxham went 2 for 3 with three RBIs and Chloe Smotherman doubled and scored a run as Peach Bowl slipped by Olivehurst-Linda in Wheatland on Tuesday night.
Blake Craft earned the win for Peach Bowl by striking out 14 batters and allowing just four hits.
Brooke Mayo finished 3 for 3 with a double and an RBI, Gracie Villalobos singled home a run, and Danika Martin struck out 10 in a solid pitching performance for Olivehurst-Linda.
MAJOR SOFTBALL
Olivehurst-Linda 5, Peach Bowl 2
Miya Garcia went 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored at the plate and struck out six while tossing a two-hitter from the circle to lead Olivehurst-Linda to a win over host Peach Bowl on Wednesday night in Yuba City.
Izabella Terry singled home a run, and Mariah Glassgow and Holly DeQuine added a base hit each in the win for O-L.
Harkee Hale and Amber Burwell had the lone hits for Peach Bowl, which was eliminated from the tournament with the loss.
Marysville 13, North Yuba 7
Sophia Orozco went 2 for 4 with three RBIs and Annie Rollins belted a three-run double to help power Marysville past North Yuba on Wednesday night.
Ave Rodriguez went 2 for 4, Heather Harness was 2 for 2 with an RBI and three runs scored and Amy Bernhard finished 2 for 4 with two RBIs as well in the win for Marysville.
Kayla Mason was 2 for 3 with a double and four RBIs and Annie Christopherson went 2 for 4 and scored twice to lead the way for North Yuba, which saw its season come to an end with the loss.
