LITTLE LEAGUE: Sutter Buttes, Sutter Area remain unbeaten

Five different players recorded multiple hits as Sutter Buttes' major softball all-star team cruised past Westside by a score of 16-5 at Peach Bowl Little League Park in Yuba City on Tuesday night.

Leading the way for Sutter Buttes was Phoebe Topete, who finished the night 4 for 4 with two doubles, two RBIs and three runs scored, and Morgan Macy, who went 2 for 4 with a double, triple and three RBIs.

Holly Brennan went 2 for 3 and scored three runs, Chelsea Chandler was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and scored twice, and Kyrie Combo finished 2 for 4 with two RBIs to help the cause for Sutter Buttes, which remained undefeated in the tournament with the victory.

Brennan also struck out six to earn the win.

Giselle Vera drove in three runs and Minna Cherry, Ariana Paiz and Lizzy Diaz hit a single each to provide the offense for Westside.

Sutter Area 11, North Yuba 0

Katie Anderson, Chloey Bell and Juliana Capaul drove in three runs each and Sutter Area improved to 3-0 in the tournament with a shutout victory over North Yuba on Tuesday night.

Anderson finished the game 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles and scored three times, Bell went a perfect 3 for 3 with three runs scored and Capaul was 2 for 3 with a double.

Julia Tarke, Sydnee Condrey and Sam Anderson added a single each for Sutter Area, which will face off against Sutter Buttes in a battle of unbeatens tonight at 8 p.m.

Kayla Mason and Bethany Alcala recorded the lone hits for North Yuba.

Olivehurst-Linda 13, Colusa 3

Miya Garcia went 3 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored, and Hayleigh Hill finished 2 for 3 and scored four times to propel Olivehurst-Linda past Colusa on Monday night.

Garcia also struck out nine batters and allowed just two hits for O-L, which received a pair of hits from Ashleigh Hinojosa and Leasha Catlin.

Josie Garafalo and Addie Taylor both singled to provide the offense for Colusa.

Wheatland 12, South Shore 2

Bella Schmidt went 2 for 2 with three runs scored and Chloe Jones struck out six while tossing a one-hitter as Wheatland rolled past South Shore on Monday night.

Hailey Tilley and Sadie Page added RBI singles in the win for Wheatland.
