PREP ROUNDUP: Sutter soccer tops Wheatland
Live Oak girls beat Colusa
Sam Ruxton had a big Thursday afternoon for the Sutter High boys soccer team.
The senior midfielder tallied a hat trick to lead the Huskies in a 5-2 Butte View League victory over Wheatland at home.
Jonathan Zavala scored the other two goals for the Huskies (12-6-2, 6-2-1).
Anthonee Ramirez, Weston Childers and Collin Olmstead each had assists for Sutter.
Coach Gurdeep Bhattal credited Franklin Tarke, Andrew Avalos, Logan Russ and Jonathan Vickner for their efforts on the defensive end of the field.
Live Oak 5, Colusa 3
Armando Araujo scored three first-half goals to help propel the Lions past the RedHawks in a nonleague match in Colusa.
Pedro Valencia added a goal and two assists, Abraham Cuevas scored a goal and Edgar Diaz and Ricky Caratachea each added assists for Live Oak, which improved to 13-1-1 on the year with the victory.
Defenders Jose Medina and Ismael Esparza and forward Sal Vargas all played well for the Lions, coach Mike Owen said. Tyler Stirling scored two goals and Gustavo Sanchez added a goal and an assist to lead the way for Colusa.
Felipe Granados had a goal, goalkeeper Christian Avila recorded 15 saves and coach Dan Kiely praised the defensive effort of Moises Valdez and Manuel Garcia in the loss for the RedHawks (1-8-1).
GIRLS SOCCER
Sutter 3, Wheatland 0
Erika Linch scored all three of the Huskies' goals in a shutout BVL victory over the Pirates.
Kelsey Graham and Jayden Garcia each had assists in the win for Sutter (14-3-1, 8-0-1).
Goalkeeper Devan Reische made three saves and was helped on the defensive end by Andrea Little, Madalyn Tarke and Jenna Lewis.
Colusa 3, Live Oak 0
Kaytlin Lorenzini scored two goals and dished out an assist and Sandra MacPherson scored a goal as well to lead the RedHawks to a victory over the Lions in Colusa.
Coach Randy Watt credited Coral Imhoff, Yajaira Cruz, Aimee Galvez and Nancy Lopez for their defensive effort on the backline for Colusa (7-3, 6-1).
Gridley 1, Oroville 0
Meranda Torres scored the goal and Wendy Palafox recorded the assist to lead the Bulldogs to a BVL win over the Tigers at home.
Joanna Teal played well defensively and Isis Estrada and Branda Lozano shined at midfield, Gridley coach Larry Teal said.
Goalkeeper Sonia Janda recorded the shutout for the Bulldogs (5-9-1, 3-6).
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Live Oak 52, Colusa 48
Amyah Clark tallied 15 points, 21 rebounds and five steals to lift the Lions to a key Sacramento Valley League win in Colusa.
Anijah Clark had 13 points and six rebounds, Paulina Heredia added 12 points and 10 rebounds and Yomaira Salazar handed out six assists for Live Oak, which improved to 13-5 overall and 3-1 in SVL play with the victory.
Katie Mobley had 16 points and 11 rebounds, Emily Mobley had 11 points and 11 rebounds and Yasmin Moreno added seven points and six rebounds in the loss for Colusa (14-4, 2-2).
WRESTLING
Lindhurst 60, Vacaville Christian 18
Lindhurst 67, Bradshaw Christian 6
The Blazers improved to 15-4 in dual meets after picking up a pair of victories over Vacaville Christian and Bradshaw Christian.
Winning by pin against Vacaville was Thongsai Thanadab (115 pounds), Jesse Ramirez (140), Fabby Perez (145), Michael Hernandez (160), John Nichols (170), Brandon Mason (220) and Christian George (heavyweight).
Winning by pin against Bradshaw was Kylie Taylor (108), Teasia Lizama (134), Ramirez (140), Edgar Rivera (145), Hernandez (160), Nichols (170), Richard Yanez (184) and George (heavyweight).
Jake Hughes (122) and Rigo Cole (138) both won by way of decision for the Blazers.
JV BOYS BASKETBALL

Tony Arellano scored 11 points and Harmon Pannu had six, but the Lions (1-12, 0-4) dropped their SVL game at home to the RedHawks.

River Valley 34, Yuba City 25
Jagreet Gosal scored 10 points, Sarah Wirrig scored eight points and Alexa Ornelas and Ashlie Millington chipped in six points a piece for the Falcons (15-6, 4-1) in a Tri-County Conference game at home.
Jostyn Bebout led Yuba City (11-10, 3-2) with 12 points and Jordan Sanders-Gutierrez added nine.

Sally Loeza scored nine points and Emily Corriea scored eight in the SVL victory for the RedHawks (5-12, 2-2).

Yuba City 60, River Valley 57
Angel Hernandez scored a team-high 18 points and Parker Lowe finished with 15 points and 17 rebounds to lead the Honkers past the cross-town rival Falcons in a TCC game.
John Horn added 12 points in the win for Yuba City (8-11, 3-0).

Courtney Massengale had 13 points and eight rebounds, Munroop Thiara scored 12 points and the Falcons beat the cross-town rival Honkers in a TCC game at home.
Shaina Rasul added 11 points and Meaghan Bains had seven points and 13 rebounds in the win for River Valley (15-1, 2-0).
