Lady Niners split twinbill on road
The Yuba College softball team headed down to Santa Rosa on Thursday afternoon and came away with a split in their doubleheader against the Cubs.
The 49ers dropped the first game 9-8 before bouncing back to take the second game by a score of 5-4.
Yuba pounded out 13 hits in the opening game of the day, but fell victim to five errors which led to four unearned runs by Santa Rosa.
Colusa High product Emiley Correa went 2 for 5 with three RBIs, Lindhurst alum Morgan Thome was 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs and former Live Oak standout Lyndsey Odom-Sizemore went 2 for 4 with a double and drove in a run to lead the way for Yuba in the opener.
Marysville grad McKenzie Kraus was 2 for 3 and scored twice and River Valley alumnus Rachel Quinn went 2 of 5 with an RBI.
Quinn pitched all seven innings to take the loss.
Correa then went 2 for 3 with a home run and a pair of RBIs to lead Yuba to a victory in the nightcap.
Odom-Sizemore finished 2 for 2 with a double and a run scored and Thome was 2 for 4 with an RBI-double while scoring twice. Quinn pitched a complete game to earn the victory.
Yuba (5-6) will continue nonleague play at Cabrillo College on Saturday.
