Yuba College softball splits doubleheader

It was a roller-coaster Tuesday for the Yuba College softball team.

The 49ers split a doubleheader by rebounding from a 6-5 loss to Sierra College with a 2-1 victory over Shasta College in the second game.

Freshman Rachel Quinn, a River Valley High graduate, pitched a complete game in the victory over Shasta, only allowing five hits and a walk.

Robin Lowery was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Quinn knocked in Yuba's other run with a sacrifice fly.

Some shaky defense doomed the Niners in the first game as the team committed five errors behind Quinn.

Offensively, Quinn helped herself out with three RBIs and she finished the game 3 for 4. Lowery was 2 for 4 with two RBIs.

Dylanne Brown (Lindhurst) and Emiley Correa (Colusa) were both 2 for 4 for Yuba (6-9), which travels to Butte Colege on Friday.
