Del Campo suspends five players, coach
San Juan Unified School District spokesman Trent Allen confirmed in an email that five Del Campo High junior varsity baseball players and an assistant coach are being suspended as a result of the brawl that took place on April 2 with Yuba City in Granite Bay.
The report was first published by the Sacramento Bee.
According to the story, two players are being suspended for two games, three players for one game and the coach for one game.
The names of the players and coach were not released, nor did the announcement clarify when the suspensions would take place.
Last Thursday, eight Yuba City High players were removed from the team because of their participation in the brawl, according to Appeal-Democrat sources.
However, Yuba City Unified School District officials have declined to confirm that information, citing "federal confidentiality laws."
