LITTLE LEAGUE: Peach Bowl two wins from World Series
The Peach Bowl Little League senior softball All-Star team is two wins away from a berth in the Senior League Softball World Series.
After going 2-1 this weekend in Missoula, Mont., Peach Bowl ended pool play with a 5-1 record.
Peach Bowl is off today, but will compete in a semifinal game on Tuesday against Arizona. If the team wins, they will play in the championship game, scheduled for 6 p.m. (mountain time) that same day.
The champion earns a bid to the Senior League World Series in Lower Sussex, Del.
Peach Bowl split its doubleheader on Sunday.
In game one, Peach Bowl defeated the host team (Missoula, Mont.) 3-1.
Peach Bowl scored all three of its runs in the first inning. Hannah Heitman drove in Sara Wirrig with a base hit and Jostyn Bebout blasted a two-run home run.
Bebout pitched all seven innings, allowing just one hit with four strikeouts.
In a battle of the undefeated teams, Butte, Mont. defeated Peach Bowl 9-5.
Peach Bowl fell into a 5-0 hole in the first inning and couldn't recover.
Brittney Pope finished 3 for 4 with a run and an RBI, while Chelsea Braun picked up two RBIs.
Ally Reece also knocked in a run, doubled and scored.
PB routed Washington on Saturday 14-3.
Heitman went 4 for 4 in that victory with a triple, three RBIs and two runs scored. Wirrig and Bebout each went 3 for 4 with a run and an RBI, while Bebout added a double.
Braun was a perfect 3 for 3 with a double, triple and three RBIs. Kelsey Smith was 2 for 4 with a triple and two RBIs.
Dana Piper and Savannah Besso added RBIs.
