Northern Section honors four Mid-Valley area spikers
A total of four Mid-Valley area volleyball players were named all-Northern Section recently, and to no suprise East Nicolaus, Gridley and Sutter players were all honored.
The Spartans' middle hitter Juliet Conant, Sutter High setter Kamalei Clifton and teammate Audry Durfor (libero) were all named first team Northern Section.
Gridley's McKenna Cox was named second team middle hitter.
Conant, a senior leader on East Nicolaus, had 287 kills, 52 aces, 66 blocks and 48 assists.
Both the Spartans and the Huskies fell in their respective section title games.
Clifton recorded an astounding 915 assists this season, while her teammate finished the year with 499 digs, and 55 aces.
Cox had 79 blocks on the season to lead the Mid-Valley area.
Also named to the first team was Bre Mackie of Central Valley, Kiley Mansfield of Pleasant Valley and Jaklyn Wheeler of Red Bluff. Wheeler was also named MVP of the Northern Section, while Erin Johnson of Hamilton was named Coach of the Year.
