PREP ROUNDUP: Sotelo leads Indians past Y.C.

Live Oak survives scare from Biggs

Paola Sotelo scored a game-high 20 points, Rosa Gonzalez added 15 and the Marysville High girls basketball team topped Yuba City 60-44 at Lesta Joubert Gymnasium in Marysville on Tuesday night.

Haley Adams chipped in 10 points for Marysville, which improved to 7-2 overall.

Yuba City (3-5) was led by Sam Hand's 13 points and Tiffany Friend's 12.

The Honkers' JV team topped Marysville 49-21 to improve to 4-3 overall.

Kelsey Smith scored 17 points, while Jostyn Bebout added 15 for the Yuba City.

Live Oak 51, Biggs 50, 2 OT

The big three did it again for the Lady Lions.

Despite shooting 11 for 38 from the free-throw line, Live Oak escaped Biggs with a double-overtime victory to improve to 7-3 overall.

Anijah Clark had 16 points with 15 rebounds with three blocks, Amyah Clark scored 15 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and five steals and Paulina Heredia recorded 12 points and 16 rebounds for Live Oak (7-3).

Faith Christian 31, Paradise Adventist 29

Tiffany Hendricks scored 13 points and added seven rebounds and Shon Ritchie chipped eight points and 10 rebounds to help lead the Lady Lions to a road victory.

With the win, Faith Christian improves to 4-2 overall.

Sutter 47, Woodland 39

Erika Larsen scored 16 points and the Lady Huskies topped Woodland at home.

Jaelyn Hoffman added 12 points and Hannah Keeton chipped eight for Sutter (4-8).

Rio Americano 50, River Valley 40

The Lady Falcons came up short on the road despite Aleqse Hawkins' 12 points and Danielle Soba's 10.

Jacky Tanner grabbed 10 rebounds and five steals for River Valley, which slipped to 3-3 overall.

New Life 32, Country Day 27

Leanna Whiteley had 10 points and Elicia Villafranco scored eight to lead the Crusaders to a nonleague win at Sacramento Country Day.

Kaylie Ramirez added four points and nine rebounds in the win for New Life (2-5).

BOYS BASKETBALL

Live Oak 65, Biggs 33

Romario Acosta scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds and six steals to help power the Lions past Biggs on the road.

Jasnit Mahal had a team-high 16 points, while Carlos Venegas, Alex Martinez, Jesse Duarte and Tejpal Gill each scored six points for Live Oak, which improved to 5-3 overall.

The Biggs' JV team rolled Live Oak 43-18. Simiren Pamma led Live Oak (1-4) with seven points. Faith Christian 73, Paradise Adventist 63

Blake Lavin scored 24 points, Micah Atkins had 21 points and five steals and the Lions remained unbeaten after topping Paradise Adventist on the road.

Deep Bhatti added nine points, while Jesse Clark turned in 11 rebounds.

With the win, The Lions improved to 8-0 overall.

Pierce 52, Esparto 22

Oscar Dorantes had 11 points with seven rebounds, Chris Tapia had 10 points and seven boards and the Bears trounced Esparto at home.

Andy Corona led Pierce (4-3) with eight rebounds.

Las Plumas 65, Gridley 64

Kevin Mattos scored 25 points, but the Bulldogs fell at home.

Emery Haddy chipped in 16 points and Mat Scott had eight for Gridley (3-6).

New Life Christian 52, Country Day 44

Jordan Sullivan and David DeTracey each scored 10 points and the Crusaders improved to 2-5 on the season with a victory in Sacramento.

Lincoln 60, Wheatland 38

Jimmy Pipkins had a team-high 10 points in the Pirates' home loss.

Jackson Hopking and Taylor Youstra each scored eight points for Wheatland (2-5).

BOYS SOCCER

Sutter 4, Wheatland 0

Four different Huskies found the back of the net and Sutter cruised past the Pirates in a BVL matchup in Wheatland.

Sam Ruxton, Anthonee Ramirez, Jonathan Zavala and Hector Ramirez all scored goals in the win for the Huskies (6-3-1, 2-1). J.D. Wilhelm, Weston Childers, Franklin Tarke and Mike McPeters each recorded an assist.

Live Oak 1, Williams 1

The Yellowjackets became the first team to slow down the Lions thanks to a goal by Saul Esparza.

Edgar Diaz scored in the first half for Live Oak (9-0-1, 2-0).

Pierce 3, Colusa 2

Felipe Granados and Tyler Stirling had a goal each, but the RedHawks dropped their nonleague game to the Bears in Arbuckle.

Maurico Ruiz had an assist and Fernando Amador made 15 saves in goal in the loss for Colusa (1-6-1).

GIRLS SOCCER

Colusa 5, Pierce 3

Stephanie Manguia scored two goals and Sandra MacPherson and Samantha Espindola added a goal and an assist each to help lift the RedHawks past the Bears in a nonleague match in Arbuckle.

Kaitlyn Lorenzini also had a goal and Amii Galvez recorded an assist in the win for Colusa (2-1).

Erica Granados scored two goals, Melissa Martinez had a goal and an assist and Stephanie Villagomez added an assist to lead the way for Pierce (1-1).

WRESTLING

Sutter 42, Woodland 26

The Huskies recorded six pins to beat back the Wolves in a dual meet Woodland.

Jayce Heryford (106 pounds), Julian Kim (113), Zach Bell-Mathews (126), Hunter Minton (132), Alex Ryan (220) and Reid Melani (285) each logged pins to lead the way for Sutter.

Alex Ingram (138) and Danny Bogert (195) each won by decision for Sutter, which improved to 5-1 in dual meets with the victory.
