R.V. wins seventh straight
The Lindhurst High boys basketball team picked up an easy 57-34 road victory at Mira Loma in Sacramento on Friday.
Leading 21-3 after the first quarter and 39-15 at the half, coach Bob Jenson called off the troops in the second half, which allowed for another balanced night in the scoring department.
Miguel French led the Blazers (11-5) with 19 points, while Devin Ward added 15, and Erick Tallman and Cedrick Thomas each contributed nine points.
River Valley 56, Bear River 44
The Falcons continued their hot streak with a seventh straight win.
Anthony Boykin scored 15 points with 11 rebounds, Jake Phillips had 11 points with eight boards and Jordan Noall scored 10 to go with six rebounds.
Manik Thiara chipped in eight points for River Valley (13-3) on the road.
Delta 63, Faith Christian 61
The Lions lost a heartbreaker when a foul was called at the buzzer, allowing Delta to capitalize and win a game at Faith Christian on free throws.
Micah Atkins scored 22 points with three steals, Blake Lavin added 15 points with eight rebounds, Jesse Clark scored 10 with nine rebounds and the Lions slipped to 12-2 overall.
Placer 73, Marysville 51
Brandon Graves scored a team-high 12 points with nine rebounds and seven blocks, but the Indians fell on the road, slipping to 6-8 overall.
MJ Ali scored seven points and grabbed five rebounds, while Angel Rodriguez and Cole Hannum each scored six.
East Nicolaus 45, Maxwell 42
Riley Shill scored 18 points to help lead the Spartans past Maxwell at the Love of the Game Invitational in East Nicolaus.
Drew Orr scored 10 points and Ryan Michel added seven for the Spartans (6-9).
Maxwell (3-11) was led by Zach Troughton's 14 points.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Yuba City 52, Davis 50
Money Kaur dropped 20 points at home to help the Lady Honkers edge Davis.
Brittany White scored 13 points, Tiffany Friend added 11 and Yuba City improved to 6-10.
East Nicolaus 38, Maxwell 25
Mikayla Rolufs scored 14 points, Katie Michel added 11 and East Nic improved to 13-1 on the season.
Denise Kendrick and Darleen Herrin each pulled down 11 rebounds in the Love of the Game Invitational at home.
Maxwell (5-5) was led by Lauren LaGrande and Kaily McKinley, who each scored six points.
New Life 49, Dunsmuir 25
Elicia Villafranco scored a team-high 17 points to help lead the Lady Crusaders to a win at the American Christian Tournament in Redding.
Leanna Whiteley tallied 14 points, Laura Whiteley added 10 and New Life Christian improved to 4-7.
On Thursday, New Life fell to Champion Christian 40-22.
Leanna Whiteley led the team with eight points, Villafranco had six.
Lincoln 44, Marysville 40
Rosa Gonzalez scored nine points, Haley Adams added seven and the Lady Indians (9-6) fell in a tough one at home.
Faith Christian 35, Delta 28
Jessie Jiminez scored 10 points, Alex Arnold added eight, Courtney Taylor chipped in six and Faith Christian (7-3) picked up a win at home.
JV BOYS BASKETBALL
River Valley 63, Bear River 47
TJ Dove scored 20 points, Chris Lamas added 18 to go with his 13 rebounds and the Falcons cruised past Bear River on the road to improve to 10-5 overall.
Isaiah Halstead and Shawn Singh each scored five points. Halstead pulled down 11 rebounds.
Elliot Christian 44, Live Oak 31
Lored Khan scored six points and Jose Gonzalez added five with 10 rebounds for Live Oak (1-5) at the Love of the Game tourney.
Faith Christian 60, Delta 17
Austin Cooper scored 16 points, Drew Tollenaar added 12 and Justin Glen chipped in 10 for Faith Christian (4-4) at home.
JV GIRLS BASKETBALL
Lincoln 44, Marysville 19
Kennedy Baker led the Lady Indians (2-7) with eight points at home.
FROSH BOYS BASKETBALL
River Valley 70, Bear River 37
Jasdeep Dhatt scored 16 points, while Rohin Basi and Devin Cates each added 13 to power the Falcons on the road.
Sarbjot Bail chipped in 10 points for the Falcons (12-2).
FROSH GIRLS BASKETBALL
Yuba City 46, Davis 18
Alisha Aery led the Lady Honkers with 14 points at home and helped the team improve to 9-3 overall.
