PREP ROUNDUP: Sutter's Larsen drops triple-double in win
Y.C. girls top Woodland; R.V.falls
Erika Larsen took control in the paint, Destiny Stevenson followed suit and the Sutter High girls basketball team edged out Victory Christian 59-54 in Carmichael on Wednesday night.
Larsen scored 23 points, grabbed 19 rebounds and blocked 10 shots for the triple-double in the nonleague game, while Stevenson added 22 points of her own for Sutter (8-12 overall).
Yuba City 63, Woodland 48
Tiffany Friend recorded 25 points and corralled five steals to help power the Lady Honkers past Woodland in a Tri-County Conference game at Honker Gym.
Alexa Montgomery added 17 points for Yuba City (8-13, 2-2), which drained 11 3-pointers as a team.
Inderkum 67, River Valley 38
The Lady Falcons dropped their first TCC game on the road.
Amrita Dale, Taylor Massengale, Jacky Tanner, Jackie Koch, Marisa Jayne and Kiana Pedraza each scored five points for River Valley (16-5, 3-1).
West Campus 58, Marysville 50
The Lady Indians saw a two-point lead vanish in the waning minutes after West Campus buried back-to-back 3-pointers, which sent Marysville home with its second Golden Empire League loss of the season.
Rosa Gonzalez led the Lady Indians (11-8, 1-2) with 19 points, while Paola Sotelo added 13 and Taylor Hodges grabbed 10 rebounds.
WRESTLING
Pioneer 40, River Valley 39
The Falcons forfeited three matches and, as a result, came up one point short in their TCC dual meet in Woodland.
Leading the way for River Valley was Manjinder Johal (154 pounds), Cody Sapp (162), Logan Morace (172), Karm Saran (184), Jordan Davis (197) and Conner Wick (222), each of whom won by way of pin.
Sophomore Dalton Dazo picked up a 9-5 decision at 128 points to round out the scores for River Valley, which fell to 0-3 in TCC competition with the loss.
JV BOYS BASKETBALL
Valley Christian 77, Faith Christian 39
Justin Glen had 10 points and 15 rebounds and Kyle Poppinga added 10 points and seven boards, but the Lions (7-7, 2-1) dropped their Sacramento Metropolitan Athletic League game on the road on Tuesday night.
FROSH GIRLS BASKETBALL
Sutter 37, Orland 33
Nicole McBane scored 16 points and Kendall Norass added eight to help lift the Huskies to a Butte View League win over the Trojans in Orland on Tuesday night.
Sutter improved to 2-1 in league play with the win.
