PREP ROUNDUP: Yuba City High girls hoops top Rio Linda

Brittany White scored 20 points, pulled down 18 rebounds and the Yuba City High girls basketball team topped Rio Linda 52-48 on the road Tuesday.

Tiffany Friend chipped in 13 points to go with her eight rebounds, while Money Kaur added 10 points for the Lady Honkers (5-9).

The JV team also beat Rio Linda 42-37.

Jostyn Bebout dropped 20 points and Hannah Heitman added 13 for the Lady Honkers (8-5).

Faith Christian 55, Lutheran 34

A trio of Lady Lions led the way for an opening Sacramento Metropolitan Athletic League victory on the road.

Alex Arnold scored 16 points, Jessie Jiminez added 15 and Courtney Taylor chipped in 12 to help Faith improve to 6-3 overall.

Colusa 55, Biggs 48

After topping Biggs by one point last season, the Lady RedHawks pulled out another dramatic victory.

Emily Mobley led Colusa (9-2) with 14 points and 14 rebounds, while Katie Mobley added 10 points and 10 rebounds and Paige Townzen scored 10 with six rebounds.

Mattie Meyers chipped in nine points, Savannah Miller scored seven and Cheyenne Rogers added four points with 10 rebounds.

The Colusa JV team (1-10) fell to Biggs 41-33.

Sally Loeza scored 13 points, while Andrea Thomas added six for Colusa.

Oakmont 46, Marysville 43

The Lady Indians lost a heartbreaker on the road after Oakmont drained a 3-pointer with 2 seconds remaining to seal the win.

Holly Tarr scored 14 points and Haley Adams added 12 for Marysville (9-5).

New Life Christian 38, Paradise Adventist 30

Leanna Whiteley scored 15 points and Elicia Villafranco added 10 points to help lift the Lady Crusaders past Paradise Adventist on the road.

Hannah Hruska chipped in five points for New Life (3-6).

BOYS BASKETBALL

Sutter 69, Marysville 68

Elijah Smith scored a game-high 19 points to help the Huskies edge the Indians at home.

Quentin Hick, Trent Little and Garrett Wallace each added 10 points for Sutter.

Angel Rodriguez led the way for Marysville (6-7) with 16 points, eight steals and five assists.

Chad Perry had 13 points and 12 rebounds, six on the offensive end, while Cole Hannum scored 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds for Marysville.

Oak Ridge 66, Yuba City 56

After stopping regional power Oak Ridge for three quarters, the Honkers let a five-point lead to start the fourth quarter slip away on the road.

Gurpreet Singh scored 21 points, Matt Hayes had 12 and Nick Brown and James Van Dusen each chipped in seven points for Yuba City (8-7).

The Yuba City JV team fell 67-45.

Travis Blas scored nine points, Isaiah Griffin chipped in five and Gagan Nijjar grabbed 17 rebounds for the Honkers (7-9).

WRESTLING

Lindhurst rallies past Capital Christian

Down 36-22 with three matches to go, the Blazers got pins from Richard Yanez (195 pounds), Brandon Mason (220) and Christian George (heavyweight) to edge Capital Christian 40-36 at home.

Rigo Cole (126) and Ashley Taylor (132) also won by pin for the Blazers, while Jesus Yanez (138), Armante Gonzalez (145) and Edgar Rivera (152) each won by decision.
