ALL-AREA: Just a freshman, Birch made waves

The Golden Empire League watched freshman Aaron Birch sweep the area by storm this past season.

After setting records in the Feather River Aquatic Club prior to the start of his prep career, Birch went on to be being named All-Golden Empire League for Marysville High after his first season.

He swept the 100 backstroke and 200 individual medley, along with helping his teammates win the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay.

It was days like that which earned him a spot in the Sac-Joaquin Section Championships, where he competed in two events.

He finished 12th in the 50 free (23.45), even though he posted a qualifying time of 23.03, and 9th in the 100 butterfly (57.80).
