ALL-AREA: Bellenfant continues to prove she is the best around
Erica Bellenfant cruised through the Tri-County Conference season before being named the conference's MVP, again.
For three consecutive seasons, the River Valley junior has received that honor.
Some of her regular season highlights include setting a league record in the 200 free (2:01.89); she placed first in nearly every individual event she competed in; and she guided River Valley to two new records, including the the 200 free and the 400 free relay (4:07.77).
At the league championships, Bellenfant swept her individual events and helped guide the relay teams to victory as well.
She was one of three River Valley swimmers to qualify for the Sac-Joaquin Section Championships held on May 10.
She qualified for two events — the 200 free and the 500 free.
In the 500, she set a new school record with a time of 5.24.94 and finished 19th overall.
In the 200, she posted a time of 2:02.58 and finished 25th.
With one more year to go, and working as a lifeguard at her home pool at Gauche Aquatic Park in Yuba City, Bellenfant should have plenty of opportunity to better her marks next season.
