PREP ROUNDUP: Locals compete at state

Three Yuba City athletes traveled to Woodward Park in Fresno on Saturday to compete in the 2011 CIF Cross Country State Championships, and while none of the three placed, each turned in solid times.

Leading the local contingent was River Valley High junior Swarnjit Boyal, who completed the 3.1-mile course in 16 minutes, 31 seconds in the boys Division II race.

His time was good enough for 84th out of 183 runners.

River Valley sophomore Leanne Jarvis clocked in at 21:50 and was 175th out of 182 runners in the girls Division II race

Faith Christian junior Cody Meredith was 151st out of 182 runners in the Division V boys race. His time was 19:14.
