LOCAL ROUNDUP: Yuba College softball downed
The Yuba College softball team opened the NorCal Regionals with an 8-0 loss to top-seeded College of the Siskiyous on Saturday in Weed.
Dylanne Brown doubled for the lone hit for the No. 16-seeded 49ers (24-14), who will look to stay alive in game two of the best-of-three series today at noon. Should Yuba win, game three will follow at 2 p.m.
"We were putting the ball in play and I'm happy with how the girls played," 49ers coach Stephanie Reynolds said. "Siskiyous played catch well. We just have to find the holes (today)."
PREP BOYS TENNIS
Live Oak sends four to sections
The Live Oak High boys tennis team couldn't hold off Micheal Lee from Willows, but still managed to send four competitors to the Northern Section playoffs after Saturday's Sacramento Valley League Tournament, which was held in Live Oak.
Lee edged Live Oak's Daljot Singh 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 in the singles championship. Both Lee and Singh, along with Live Oak's Edgar Yanez, Jesus Medina and Manvir Chahal qualified for sections.
In doubles, the team of Lee and Steve Vang topped Singh and Yanez 6-0, 6-2. Both teams, along with the pair of Chahal and Medina will compete in Redding next week.
